Chevrolet should bring the little Tracker SUV to the PH

bluetooth alarm

An all-new subcompact crossover from Chevrolet has just been revealed and it comes with a sporty exterior, along with a turbocharged heart. After making its initial debut at Auto Shanghai 2019, the bow-tie brand has officially launched the all-new Tracker in China.

Built and designed by Chevy for the internet generation, the Tracker features the company’s new ‘lean muscularity’ design language that gives the crossover a dynamic and youthful appearance. Using Z-shaped lines across its body, the Tracker has an angular look reminescent of sports cars. When paired with the Redline trim, the Tracker’s exterior gets black and red accents which can be seen on the front grill, front bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels, and side mirror caps.

Stepping inside, the Tracker gets a simple yet intuitive cabin design. A three-spoke steering wheel, along with a dual gauge cluster greets the driver. Meanwhile, a floating touchscreen display makes its home on the center dashboard. It features Chevy’s newest version of MyLink and comes standard with AppleCarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, as well as voice recognition.

Under the hood, a choice of two turbocharged Ecotec engines are available for the Tracker. First up is the 1.0-liter 325T three-cylinder that makes 125 PS and 180 Nm of torque. It is then mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. Next is the slightly bigger 1.3-liter 335T inline-three which produces 164 PS with 240 Nm of torque. Married exclusively to a continuously variable transmission, (CVT) Chevy claims that it can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

To keep the driver and passengers safe from harm, active safety systems like automatic emergency braking, pedestrian collision mitigation, forward collision alert, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and tire pressure monitoring are fitted as standard. There’s also a reverse camera and heated side mirrors as an added extra.

Will this China-built crossover makes its way to the Philippines? With the Trax set to be replaced soon, this could be its likeliest successor.
